My name is Benito Pena; I am from the city of Santa Ana. I would like to share my testimony with you about the power of the gospel of Christ. I grew up in Santa Ana in the 60's and 70's with the mindset of the drug culture,  experimenting with them like any regular barrio kid. I began to do time in the county jail back in 1972 and in 1984 I received a life sentence. In prison, I was involved in drug use and reckless living up until 2000. After listening to numerous testimonies from different prison ministries that came into prison, I gave my life and heart to the Lord Jesus Christ on August 5th of 2000. The Lord assisted me and empowered me to overcome a heroin addiction and a gang mentality. I got involved in reading the scriptures. While attending church in the prison the Lord housed me with an education, paid by a volunteer. I earned a masters degree in theology and Christian counseling. The Lord was opening doors for me; August 7, 2016 I was release from prison despite my life sentencing. Just as God called me to preach and teach His Gospel, the Lord blessed me with a position at Street Light Church. Under Pastor Santos, I became ordained and I now pastor the Spanish Ministry. For all those who think that your life has no meaning and it doesn't really matter anymore, I am living proof that God not only can save you but can also transform your life, if you allow him to.
